"Killer Fats and Acrylamide: How Some Vegetarian Foods May be Damaging Our Health"
"Just because people are eating vegetarian or vegan does not necessarily mean they are eating healthy. Trans fats are found in animal fats, but are also found in processed foods that contain hydrogenated oils. These toxic trans fats may be killing tens of thousands of Americans every year. In this cutting-edge informative presentation, Dr. Michael Greger documents our government's complicity with the processed food industry in endangering the public's health. Dr. Greger also offers an update on acrylamide, a possible carcinogen discovered in fried and baked starchy foods."
Michael Greger, MD is a nationally recognized speaker on a number of important public health and social justice issues. As Farm Sanctuary’s chief investigator on mad cow disease, he debated the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association director before the FDA and was invited as an expert witness to defend Oprah Winfrey in the infamous meat defamation trial. He currently coordinates the mad cow disease website for the Organic Consumers Association. Dr. Greger lives in Boston and is a general practitioner specializing in vegetarian nutrition. He is a graduate of the Cornell University School of Agriculture and the Tufts University School of Medicine.
