The Vegetarian Society of Hawaii is membership
empowered. It is through the dedication and skills of volunteers that this
organization has become one of the largest of its kind in the United
States.
The many benefits of becoming active in VSH
include:
- Helping other members learn about
vegetarianism.
- Helping the environment by promoting an
earth-friendly lifestyle.
- Helping VSH to not merely exist, but to thrive
and grow into the 21st Century.
- Meeting other like-minded people.
- Gaining valuable skills and experience.
Some of the ways you can help:
Meeting Assistants
Greet members and
visitors to our monthly meetings, assist with room set up and tear down,
assist with refreshments.
Newsletter
Contribute articles,
restaurant reviews, book reviews, photos, etc. to our quarterly
newsletter
Table Events
We periodically have table
events where we talk with people, pass out vegan/vegetarian literature,
and sign up new members. We can always use more help with these.
Flyer Distribution
While several of us
work on flyer distribution and posting to online newspapers and calendars,
there is a lot more we could be doing both in expanding our current
efforts and new areas. For example we currently need someone to distribute
our monthly flyers to libraries and veggie friendly restaurants.
